How does the compression work?
Framebird compresses JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images right in your browser. Your selected image is processed locally and is not sent to Framebird servers, and you do not need an account. The default quality is 90. For JPEG, WebP and AVIF, the quality setting trades detail for file size: lower values give smaller files with less detail, and higher values keep more detail in a larger file. PNG output is lossless for the decoded pixels, so its quality setting changes how much effort goes into compression rather than removing image detail. Results vary by image. Some files that are already well compressed may end up larger after processing. Compare the original and new file sizes, and check the downloaded image carefully before you replace an original. Source metadata, such as camera details and GPS tags, is not copied into the new file. If you need that information, keep a copy of the original image.
