Many photographers and creative teams are reviewing their client Gallery and proofing tools right now. The reason is understandable: PicDrop announced new tariffs and pricing in 2026. According to PicDrop, Lite is being discontinued, Pro is now the paid entry plan, and the new tariffs have applied to new customers since May 12, 2026.
That does not mean every user sees the same increase. The real impact depends on the previous plan, storage needs, team setup, and billing period. Still, this is a useful moment to check whether your current tool still fits your workflow.
What changed at PicDrop
PicDrop explains the new structure in its article about new tariffs and prices. The main points:
- Lite is being discontinued and moved into Pro.
- Pro is the new paid entry plan.
- Advanced is a new plan between Pro and Business.
- Business is simplified, while Enterprise becomes a clearer tier.
For comparison, an earlier PicDrop pricing snapshot from before May 12, 2026 listed Lite at 9,99 €/month plus local VAT, with 10GB storage and up to 20 Galleries. Pro was listed at 14,99 €/month plus VAT, while Business was listed at 89,99 €/month plus VAT. PicDrop names May 12, 2026 as the start date of the new tariffs for new customers.
PicDrop currently lists Pro at 17,99 €/month with monthly billing on its pricing page, checked on July 9, 2026. If you used Lite before or watch fixed costs closely, this change may be noticeable.
Start with your real workflow
Before switching tools, look at what you actually need. For many photographers, the monthly price is only one part of the decision. The bigger question is how much time the tool saves in daily work.
Ask yourself:
- How much storage do you really need each year?
- Do you need classic Galleries only, or flexible Shares for photos, videos, and design files?
- Should clients leave comments, annotations, or statuses directly on Media?
- Do Shares need password protection or expiry dates?
- Is custom branding important for a professional handoff?
- Do you need print sales and studio management, or mainly delivery, feedback, and downloads?
- Is a GDPR-compliant workflow important for your clients?
If you need print sales, lab integrations, or very specific studio management features, compare those separately. If your priority is beautiful client Galleries, image selection, feedback, downloads, and simple Shares, alternatives are worth a look.
PicDrop alternative: when Framebird fits
Framebird is a modern PicDrop alternative for photographers and creative teams that want to share work simply, professionally, and with GDPR-compliant workflows.
Framebird is a strong fit if you want to:
- Present photos, videos, and creative files in clean Shares.
- Collect client feedback directly on Media.
- Keep comments, annotations, statuses, and downloads in one place.
- Create password-protected Shares with custom branding.
- Use a focused sharing and review workflow instead of a managed studio suite.
Framebird Pro includes 500GB storage for $12/month. PicDrop currently lists Pro at 17,99 €/month with monthly billing, checked on July 9, 2026. Currency, VAT, billing period, and team requirements can change the real comparison, but for many solo photographers and small creative teams the value comparison is worth checking.
Test a switch without risk
You do not need to move everything at once. Start small:
- Create a free Framebird account.
- Upload one current client project or a test Gallery.
- Style the Share with your logo, layout, and access settings.
- Send the Share link to a test client or to yourself.
- Check whether comments, annotations, downloads, and presentation fit your working style.
If you export a simple folder structure from PicDrop, you can upload large folder structures to Framebird with drag and drop. For bigger jobs, the Framebird Desktop App helps: it keeps uploading files and Media natively in the background while you continue working.
Framebird does not currently offer managed PicDrop migration. The easiest path is to try new projects in Framebird first and let existing PicDrop projects phase out when it makes sense.
Bottom line
The PicDrop price change is not a reason to panic, but it is a good reason to review your tool stack honestly. If your current plan still fits and your workflow feels smooth, you may not need to change anything. If you want a modern, flexible, and focused alternative, Framebird is worth testing.
