Framebird Desktop App
The Framebird Desktop App connects files on your Mac to the same Galleries, Media, and Shares you use in the browser. It is especially useful for large batches and work that starts in local folders.
The current desktop download supports macOS 10.15 or newer on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. You can keep using the browser version on any supported platform.
Install and sign in
Download Framebird
Open the desktop app page and download the latest installer.
Install the app
Open the downloaded file, move Framebird to Applications, then launch it. If macOS asks for confirmation, verify that the app is Framebird before continuing.
Sign in
Use the same Framebird account as in your browser. Your Galleries, Shares, settings, and plan stay in sync.
Upload files and folders
Open a Gallery and drag files or folders into it. A dropped folder is imported as a Gallery, and nested folders become Sub-Galleries. The transfer panel shows preparation, progress, failures, and retry actions.
You can continue organizing work while transfers run. Avoid moving or renaming source files until their uploads finish.
Download Media
Select Media, a Gallery, or a Share and choose Download. Desktop downloads use the native transfer panel and save to the location you choose. A filtered Share downloads only the currently filtered content when that narrower scope is shown.
Resume interrupted transfers
The desktop app keeps a local transfer journal. If the app closes or the connection drops during an upload or download:
- Reopen Framebird and sign in to the same account.
- Choose Resume when Framebird finds unfinished transfers.
- Keep the original source files and destination available until recovery finishes.
- Retry individual failed items if a transfer cannot be resumed.
Recovery depends on the original local files still being available. If they were moved, renamed, or removed, start those uploads again from their new location.
Work with desktop tabs
Open content in a new tab to keep several Galleries or Shares ready at once. Drag tabs to reorder them. Closing a tab does not delete its content.
When you are offline
Framebird shows offline and retry states instead of silently abandoning work. Leave the app open or reopen it after your connection returns, then resume or retry transfers. Changes that require the server, such as creating a Share or updating settings, finish only after Framebird reconnects.
Troubleshooting
- An upload is stuck: check the connection, keep the source file available, then use Retry.
- A resumed transfer cannot find a file: start it again from the file’s current location.
- The app shows old content: use Refresh or reopen the Gallery after reconnecting.
- Installation is blocked: confirm that you downloaded Framebird from the official desktop app page and check your macOS security prompt.
